A journey undertaken on Dublin Bus route 747 on the 19th April 2013.
This update is almost a part 2 to the one dealing with the 90 as it continues the theme of transport links. The 747 connects Heuston Station, the City Centre and Bus Aras/Connolly Station with Dublin Airport.
My first trip on the 747 was over ten years ago, when the AVs assigned to the route were in the blue/green/yellow livery and had to travel up through Drumcondra to reach the Airport. The route always charged a premium to travel to the Airport so it was a rare thing to travel on it, unlike the 90. However, in recent years the new smart ticketing has been introduced, and the Day Rambler ticket allows travel on the Airlink. This is very good value as the ticket is €5 for one day (if you buy the 5 day version), but a single on 747 is €6! Travel on it in recent years has become much more frequent as a result.
On the day I travelled on VG 45 of Summerhill Garage.
