A journey undertaken on route 18 on the 29th January 2011 and 29th March 2013.
Back on the 29th January 2011, after arriving in Liffey Valley on the 239, I then walked across the footbridge over the M50 motorway to the Old Lucan Road and the terminus of the 18. From there I boarded AV 92 from Donnybrook Garage and got the bus across the southern part of the city, through Crumlin, Kimmage, Rathmines and Ranelagh to Sandymount, an area completely different in terms of socio-economics to Palmerstown. This also completed by circular tour of the city.
Fast forward two years and two months exactly, and on the 29th March 2013 (Good Friday) I recreated the route. I went for the 09:50 departure from Old Lucan Road but due to bus issues it did not appear until 10:05. AV 151 then brought all the way over to Sandymount. From there I walked back along most of the route to record the buses on it. Included in the collection is AX 529 on a short 18 to Appian Way. A number of these shorts operate throughout the day. The weather was also much better this day compared to the days I recreated my trips on the 17A and 239.
